Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Panasonic (PC) Chairman and CEO Yoshi Yamada this afternoon said the company is making a push for a single standard for 3D full HD television content.
He says the company is developing a 3D Full HD authoring system; they are collaborating with Hollywood director James Cameron. He contends 3D will allow consumers to experience movies in a new and entirely immersible way.” The company is working with the Blu-Ray Disc Association, among others, on the proposed home 3D HD standard.
At the press conference, Panasonic showed a video clip of Cameron making the case for the appeal of 3D content in the home. He said that 3D is not a gimmick any longer. ( He’s making a 3D movie called Avatar which is due in theaters in December 2009. )
Meanwhile, the company announced an expansion of its consumer electronics recycling program, with 400 U.S. recycling sites by the end of this year, 600 by the end of next year, and 800 by the end of ...
