The Recession Bowl

Some may argue about the players or the play on the field; others can’t wait for the Boss to show up. And the ads will keep YouTube busy. The Super Bowl is a national event, and this year’s host committee in Tampa, Fla., is doing everything it can to stir up interest : tree-planting fun, a golf tournament with “I’m going to Disney World” quarterback Doug Williams, and a gospel celebration featuring Mary Mary and the NFL Players All-Star Choir . Plus, the recession spurs a search for free entertainment, and the Super Bowl offers that in abundance. But the recession is already dampening the economic jolt that a Super Bowl can generate. In this installment of We Build Your Presentation, we go behind the numbers to gauge the pregame interest in Super Bowl XLIII. Check back after the game for more stats and to see if this year’s installment beats 2008’s record of 97.5 million viewers . (link)
