In the wake of the animal abandonment problem reaching critical mass, three of the world's biggest animal groups unite in support of H.R. 3501, a historic initiative that allows taxpayers to deduct pet-related expenses. The bill is a “critical safety net,” said HSUS top dog Michael Markarian.

    Oftentimes, we humans tend to forget about our pets during tough economic times. My family and I support Leo Grillo's bill and are more than thrilled that D.E.L.T.A. Rescue, HSUS and ASPCA are backing H.R. 3501. Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-MI) hails from a state that has a record of passing groundbreaking, historic initiatives. I salute all of the wonderful people taking a firm stand to protect our innocent animals.

    Always remember that our pets have only one sole purpose in life -- and that's to be a part of ours.
